...And Just Like That, It's 2021...

Well, what can you say about a year like 2020? Besides the obvious? I would say it was rough for all in one or many ways...we had several restrictions here, but I will not complain about them. Yeah, maybe at the time I complained a little, (especially about not being able to go see my hair lady, to color my grays!) but as time went on, I realized what a fool I was...

Not being able to go out to eat at restaurants or traveling to certain places is nothing when people are losing their jobs, losing their homes, and going hungry. We are still the fortunate ones because we still eat, we still have a roof over our heads and my husband still works...the restrictions are put in place so that, gee I dunno, maybe one day life will be back to "normal" again...??

It sucks but I'll do what it takes. I wish others thought/will do the same...

With that being said, we were still fortunate enough to go out and explore in Okinawa this year. I wanted to share my best 9 images from Instagram for 2020...(if you follow my on Instagram, you've already seen these) but I wanted to also write a little description for each photo...

From counterclockwise:

1.) Squatting with the peace sign: This was up north in the Kunigami area, a place called "Ie No Hama". It's a beautiful beach area with the most iconic Jurassic Park-like rock formations...one of my favorite places I found this year...

2.)  Yellow dress and castle stairs: It was the perfect day to go back to visit one of my favorite castle ruins: Katsuren Castle. It was one of those, sunny, blue sky-perfect white cloud days, and the best part was seeing the beautiful view from the top of the ruins...

3.) Wild pink flowers: I enjoy going for walks outdoors for cardio, and I will always stop and snap a photo if I see flowers!! This day happened to be a gorgeous day out and these wild pink flowers were just begging to be photographed! (Or shall I say iphone-photographed) lmao

4. and 5.) I guess everyone really loved the photos taken at Ie No Hama!

6.) This was from the new aquarium that opened alongside a mall, DMM Kariyushi in Tomigusuku, down south. It was a beautiful aquarium, but very $$$$$ admission for us (there's 5 of us)...

7.) For the Fourth of July weekend, we took a ferry to Tokashiki Island, and spent a couple hours at Aharen Beach...probably the bluest, and clearest waters I've seen in Okinawa that rivals my favorite beach, Okuma Beach...the kids loved it.

8.) This waterfall photo was actually a throwback, not from 2020 but still a good reminder how awesome this waterfall is...Giiza Banta in Yaese, a not-so-secret waterfall here...

9.) Another shot from Katsuren Castle.

So that was my best 9 from 2020. Hopefully 2021 will be full of (safe) adventures.

I really hope people do their part so we can live our lives without restriction again. It's crazy how people are selfish, and still attend large gatherings or not wear masks, or still think this whole thing is a hoax...CRAZY. INSANE. People who think their personal freedoms matter more than human lives...I don't even know what to think anymore...

We can only hope for the best. I can only hope for the best. That's all.

PS. Instead of a "brand new blog" I decided to just purchase my own domain and remain on Blogger.

I am no longer a blogspot.com, but now I am itsjenesaisquoi.com !
